Femur Series–INTERTAN Interlocking Nail surgery

With the acceleration of the aging of society, the number of elderly patients with femur fractures combined with osteoporosis is increasing. In addition to old age, patients are often accompanied by hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular diseases and so on. At present, most scholars advocate surgical treatment. Due to its unique design, INTERTAN interlocking femur nail has higher stability and anti-rotation effect, which is more suitable for the application of femur  fractures with osteoporosis.

Features of INTERTAN interlocking nail:

In terms of head and neck screws, it adopts a double-screw design of lag screw and compression screw. The 2 screws combined with interlocking is to enhance the effect against femur head rotation.

In the process of inserting the compression screw, the thread between the compression screw and the lag screw drives the axis of the lag screw to move, and the anti-rotation stress is transformed into linear pressure on the broken end of the fracture, so as to significantly enhance the anti-cutting performance of the screw. The two screws are jointly interlocked to avoid the "Z" effect.

The design of the proximal end of the main nail similar to joint prosthesis makes the nail body more matching with the medullary cavity and more consistent with the biomechanical characteristics of the proximal femur.

Application for INTERTAN:

Femur neck fracture, anterograde and reverse intertrochanteric fracture, subtrochanteric fracture, femur neck fracture combined with diaphyseal fracture, etc.

Surgical position:

Patients could be placed in the lateral or supine position. When patients are placed in the supine position, the doctor let them on an X-ray table or on an orthopedic traction table.
