Today I will share with you how to exercise after leg fracture surgery

Today I will share with you how to exercise after leg fracture surgery. For a leg fracture, an orthopedic distal tibia locking plate is implanted, and strict rehabilitation training is required after the operation. For different periods of exercise, here is a brief description of the rehabilitation exercise after a leg fracture.

1

First of all, because the lower extremity is the main weight-bearing part of the human body, and in the early stage of fracture surgery, because the simple lower extremity orthopedic bone plate and screws cannot bear the weight of the human body, in general, in the early stage of lower extremity orthopedic surgery, we do not recommend moving on the ground. To get off the ground, land on the healthy side and use the crutches to get off the ground. That is to say, in the first month after the operation, if you want to exercise and do rehabilitation exercises, you should do rehabilitation exercises on the bed. The recommended movements are as follows, mainly to exercise the lower limbs in 4 different directions. Muscle strength in 4 directions of the lower body.
The first is the straight leg raise, which can be done on the bed with the straight leg raised. This action can train the muscles in the front of the leg.

2

The second action can raise the leg laterally, which is to lie on the side of the bed and raise it. This action can train the muscles on the outside of the leg.

3

The third action is to clamp your legs with pillows, or lift your legs to the inside. This action can train the muscles on the inside of your legs.

4

The fourth action is to press the legs down, or to lift the legs to the back while lying on your stomach. This exercise works the muscles on the back of the legs.

5

Another action is the ankle pump, which is to stretch and flex the ankle while lying on the bed. This action is the most basic action. On the one hand, it builds muscles, and on the other hand, it helps to reduce swelling.

6

Of course, it is also very important to exercise the range of motion after lower extremity fracture surgery. We require that the range of motion should reach the normal range within three months after surgery, especially the knee joint.
Second, starting from the second month of the operation, you can slowly get off the ground and walk with partial weight, but it is better to walk with crutches, because the fracture began to grow slowly in the second month, but it has not fully healed, so this situation is at this time. Try not to fully bear the weight. Premature weight bearing can easily lead to the displacement of the fracture and even the fracture of the internal fixation implant plate. Of course, the previous rehabilitation exercises continue.
Third, three months after the operation, you can slowly start full weight bearing. You need to take an X-ray three months after the operation to check the healing of the fracture. Generally, the fracture is basically healed three months after the operation. At this time, you can Slowly throw away the crutches and begin walking with full weight. The previous rehabilitation exercises can still be continued. In short, when you go home from fracture surgery, you should rest on the one hand, and rehabilitation exercise on the other hand. Early rehabilitation exercise is very important for postoperative recovery.
